    My problem with reading…

I have loved reading as a child I just lost interest and time when I got older. My adult life simply left no time to concentrate on a book long enough to actually finish it. Unfortunately I read less and less.  During last years Christmas break (it feels weird to say that 2022 was last year doesn’t it?) I actually had enough time again to pick up a book. Lo and behold I finished it, started a second one, finished it and then even read a third book! Can you belive it? I felt like I was 14 years old again grinding through City of Heavenly Fire in one night,…

    TWO YEARS LATER …

It‘s now nearly been two years… … since I came back from England. In February 2020 the growing Covid numbers forced me to hop on a plane and return back home. I wasn‘t ready. One day I was sure to have at least 4 months left of my aupair year, the next I was already at the airport. Life is crazy I guess.  Now being back home for almost two years I have finally started uni and moved out, but even though I‘m happy where I am right now, it still feels like I‘m behind in a way. While I was in England my friends started studying, apprenticeships, celebrated birthdays…

    MY THOUGHTS ON GIFTS…

‘Tis the season … … for gift giving. I love giving and receiving gifts, just the same. For me it’s an act of showing the people I love that I care for them and think about them. I do think however, that we really have to overthink the way we handle presents. There are three things I just can’t understand are so frowned upon.  It’s ok to have wishes … … and tell your loved ones about them! Everybody has wishes, I’m sure you’ll be able to think about a few ones if you try. Maybe that bottle of your favourite gin that you’ve been meaning to buy for a…

    CHRISTMAS GIFT GUIDE …

It’s officially one month till Christmas… …and with Black Friday being in two days, it’s the perfect time to start shopping for some Christmas presents! I know exactly how exhausting it can be to find the right thing for everybody. Just the right price range, something they will enjoy and at best something they need. Sometimes it seems like an impossible task.  Just like a lot of other people I’ve checked Pinterest for some ideas. After I’ve seen Beef Jerky and photo calendars about 100 times however, I figured it was time to come up with my own little list. So here it is, my little gift guide to (hopefully)…

    MOVING OUT …

I‘ve been looking forward to this… …since I came back from England. Finally living on my own, in a flat I can decorate the way I want it. First it looked like I was gonna stay at home, because my uni was nearby and it just didn’t make sense to move out, when I was staying in my hometown. After I changed my major and the uni, I had to move to a new town in Lower Saxony. I was hoping to end up in a bigger city, that plan didn’t work out. The new town I live in is exactly that, a town. A small one as well, but…

    AUTUMN THOUGHTS…

I‘m so ready for autumn … …of course I don’t know about you but I literally can‘t wait for the leaves to start falling down, sitting on the sofa watching old movies all cosy wrapped in a blanket and drinking a pumpkin spice latte at my favourite café. My wool skirts and coats are ready to be worn and my sandals are stored away with my summer dresses and tops.  Autumn has always been one of my favourite seasons, because for me it is a time to calm down, gather myself and just get ready for what the rest of the year has in store for me. Simply a time…

    A LOOK INTO THE FUTURE…

It’s been a struggle lately … …to really focus on what’s coming next. With everything going on, I feel like planning is impossible to do and all that’s left is concentrating on the moment. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, but sometimes it would be nice to escape the crushing present and hideaway in a possible future.   My best friend always has my back and even in this case, without knowing it, she helped me. For my birthday she got me a nice box full of lots I can open, whenever I feel like I’m in need of some inspiration or an activity for the day. I drew and the…

    MY BOOK LIST…

I used to be an avid reader, finishing a book in only a few days when I was younger. Unfortunately the older I got the less I read. I tried to read before sleeping but I never really came far so I basically just gave up. Lately however I realised that reading during the day was actually a fun thing to do and really took my mind off things. I bought some books I’ve had my eye on for some time and gave it a try. What shall I say? My bookshelves are full again… Here are a few picks from my list, some of which I’ve read, some of…

    COVID AND MENTAL HEALTH…

I’ve always been a happy person … … my friends and family say that I am easy and fun being around because I am usually in a good mood. I try to look at the bright side of things even when it seems like everything is just going down the pan. This last year however really tested me. I was faced with more than one situation in which I wished I could do something or see somebody I couldn’t because of Covid. Next week my second birthday in Lockdown is coming up and again I won’t be able to celebrate it with my loved ones. I tried to stay positive…

    MY 2021 RESOLUTIONS….

New Year’s resolutions are always quarrelled over, you either love them, or you hate them. I think the main reason why a lot of people don’t really believe in setting themselves goals to reach during the new year is, that they are aiming too high. I am quite fond of New Year’s resolutions but like so many I always picked unrealistic things to reach or do, like loosing a bit of weight (knowing I would not do anything for it). This year I decided to reflect on 2020, find out what did and what didn’t work for me, what I wished I did more often and what made me sad…
